We Remember

 In Rememberance

We spent this morning making a poppy wreath which we will place as a family tomorrow at our local War Memorial in Werribee.  Loved the conversations we were having as i was reading from a book 'What was war like Grandma?'.  Even though we are officially on 'holidays', learning still continues, as it should.  Happy days!

Celebrating Australia

Proud to be Australian

These are some of the books we will be reading as a family over the next 2 weeks, celebrating our Country and remembering those who gave their lives for our freedom.

Totally enjoyed this afternoon singing and teaching the kids 'Waltzing Matilda', haven't sung that for years!  I have been very slack not teaching a lot over the years re: Australian History, however was very surprised my daughter knew about Simpson and his donkey.  Alkira was able to retell all of us about Simpson and his donkey from a book that she read last year.  Reading is such a wonderful love to give our children, books can fill them with wonder of the world around us, distress at what war can do to nations and books can also give them hope, faith and pure joy.  LOVE BOOKS.

APOLOGIA

APOLOGIA

About a year and half ago we decided to change our Science program to Apologia science.  Changing has made a huge difference to the way our children view science.  Apologia is a very hands on program, lots of experiments in both their junior curriculum as well as secondary curriculum.  Currently  2 of my children are doing Land Animals and my eldest son is doing General Science which is their secondary science for year 7.

Dissecting Owl poo was a favorite a couplke of weeks ago as they found Mouse/Rat skull, teeth hair....YUK!!
